Trying to reconcile real manchest anatomy with tentacles where arms should be is something I should have thought about when I designed this Lovecraftian horror in the first place. Years ago.
OH WELL drinks three cups of coffee and tries her best

“Homestuck is an intricate and meaningful webcomic,” I tell my friends as the adult form of Dave Strider kills Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, AKA the Presidents of the United States, before skateboarding into the sky, never to be seen again
did you know that at anime boston a Dolorosa cosplayer had her costume destroyed by people who hate homestuck?
40 hours of work, destroyed on her.
she was cornered too.
now idk about you, but that’s taking your hatred for the homestuck fandom too…
Wow. My faith in humanity is dropping like a rock.
…why would people do that? <:c
From the girl who was attacked:
“First, as Dolorosa, I was met with severe animosity by other congoers who seemed to forget the “Pop Culture” piece of the convention. They had no problem when I was Mag, but I was verbally and physically harassed occasionally while donning my Homestuck cosplay. As it is, I need to make repairs to my armorpiece, belt, a layer of my dress, and both my horns before I can even think about cosplaying the costume I put 65 hours into making again.”
hating a series does not justify harassment and extensive abuse
i’m actually pretty sure those are things that are irl illegal in most places now
okay so I’m editing my post to warn people that there is like, possibly some victim blaming??? this girl gets her costume torn up and following comments include juicy tidbits like-
“I wasn’t originally going to post, but I feel I have to respond with Taurosgrl’s post. What really killed it for me was the sheer amount of horribly low-work cosplays that seemed to overwhelm the con this year. I am sorry to say, but the main culprit was the massive amount of Homestuck (although there were a few “ponies” around that also had no effort).”
Excellent, ignoring that she was attacked
“I just want to concur with VirtualPlay. I have nothing against Homestuck itself or the fans - I’ve read the first 2 chapters or so and have enjoyed it somewhat. I think a lot of the hostility the Homestucks garner is because of how barely-cosplay MOST of them were, and yet they are getting more attention and taking up more space than the ANIME cosplayers at an ANIME convention. Yes, Anime Boston has “pop culture” in the banner… the implied preface of “JAPANESE Anime, JAPANESE Manga, and JAPANESE Pop Culture” is the defining point that you seem to have missed, though.
And for what it’s worth, none of the other non-anime fandoms seemed imposing, attitude-ish or whathaveyou… I got those vibes/looks/impressions only from the Homestucks.”
Okay so she mentions people were hostile to her because of her cosplay and you all go on about how “i have nothing against homestuck.” Literally, no one addresses how completely fucked up that was.
People took that as a position to complain about homestuck cosplays.
can someone please post in this thread and point out how terrible that is?
No excuses. Absolutely none. Let people have their own good time at a con no matter how they are dressed. It’s immature to have a problem with something as petty as this.
wow so can the victim-blamers please go away?? who the fuck ~speculates~ about why someone may or may not have deserved to be attacked? she got cornered and assaulted and her hard work got destroyed. there’s no more to this story except that this kind of behavior needs to stop. (and that imo the people who did this to her should get some kind of legal repercussion but that’s up to the dolorosa cosplayer.)
Uh WOW what kind of major asshole attacks someone and purposefully destroys their costume???
ALSO I don’t give a shit if you hate Homestuck or even if maybe some Homestuck cosplayers were rude to you that is no excuse to IGNORE THE POINT OF HER POST and go on a victim blaming spree. Wow forum users so sorry that you think some Homestuck cosplayers had an attitude or had bad cosplay. Wait, actually I don’t give. Any fucks.
This is ridiculous.
For the first eight years of our marriage, [Michelle and I] were paying more in student loans than what we were paying for our mortgage. So we know what this is about.
And we were lucky to land good jobs with a steady income. But we only finished paying off our student loans—check this out, all right, I’m the President of the United States—we only finished paying off our student loans about eight years ago.” —

I found the mailing list from my SPX table last year!
It was for people to sign up to get notified when my comic goes up online/is updated. I was excited that I found it because I thought I had lost it. Even though it will be a while until the first issue is polished enough for public consumption (REWORKING EVERYTHING AGAIN AND AGAIN but I digress) I figure these people will still be into it lol.
THE POINT IS I looked at the list
and Hamlet Machine is on there?!?!?!?!?!?!
Like, what, I unknowingly had a chat with Hamlet Machine when did that happen??? And then I remembered that someone had come by and talked to me about my work and I told them about my comic project and they said “oh I have a webcomic it is a gay space opera check it out!”
Emma that was Hamlet Machine who else has a gay space opera webcomic…
I forgot to make this post!!
I have a new AIM screen name - executordorkleer
IM me I am around most nights.
holy sh*t… what the f*ck just happened?
Dante Basco liveblogging his Homestuck reading experience is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.
Like, I have fucking loved the movie Hook and especially Rufio since I was a kid. It’s just amazing being able to follow THE GUY WHO WAS RUFIO on Tumblr in the first place! But then to watch him enjoy one of your fave webcomics, a webcomic in which Rufio makes a cameo or two, is SO GREAT.
THE INTERNET. IS COOL.
