Day Twelve: Favorite female character in a movie
Lydia Deetz, Beetlejuice.
I wish I was cool enough to be Lydia Deetz. After I saw Beetlejuice sometime around the 6th grade, that was it. I had seen the light, and that light was Winona Ryder. (Her and Christina Ricci, I swear to God, I wanted to be both of them.) Lydia is one of my favorite characters from any Tim Burton movie. When I had short hair in middle school I sometimes gelled my bangs in an attempt to have pointy Lydia bangs. Looking back, I wish I had committed to the full look. I was not awesome enough.
If I ever decide to procreate, I may name my firstborn daughter Lydia. I swear I loved that name before I ever saw Beetlejuice. But, you know what, I just realized that I watched the Nickelodeon cartoon in elementary school before I ever saw the movie, so. I’m a big nerd I guess. Even then, if anyone wanted to get on my case for naming my kid after Lydia Deetz-
